Introduction:

Couch Pilgrim presents Anthony Fonseca Jr.

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering what movie is actually worth watching, where the good food festivals are, or who that artist everyone keeps talking about is, you’re in the right place.

Anthony Fonseca Jr. is a high school film teacher, featured photographer for his local news channel, and a lifelong student of whatever’s playing on the big screen (or streaming at home). Born in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in Palm Bay, Florida, he graduated from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film & Multimedia. Since then, Anthony has tried just about every lane the entertainment industry has open — interning at iHeartRadio, directing a short film, popping up in commercials, and saying “yes” to nearly every creative opportunity Florida had to offer… until he officially ran out of them.

CouchPilgrim is the perfect hangout spot (blog) where Anthony brings his curiosity off the couch and into the real world. With the goal to become a talk show host who eats his way through food festivals, Anthony plans to show up early to local concerts, and stay up-to-date on the latest movies and cultural trends so you don’t have to. Whether he’s breaking down a new film release, discovering the best bites in town, or chasing the next big moment in pop culture, Anthony’s mission is simple: follow the fun, ask good questions, and bring you along for the ride.

Career History:

From Film Class to Pop Culture Coverage

My journey into entertainment journalism started long before CouchPilgrim existed. After graduating from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Film & Multimedia, I took the “try everything” approach to the industry. I interned at iHeartRadio, directed a short film, appeared in commercials, and worked across both on-camera and behind-the-scenes roles.

Eventually, that hands-on experience led me into education. As a high school film teacher, I get to break down movies, media, and storytelling every day — which, conveniently, keeps me sharp and constantly tuned into how culture evolves. Teaching didn’t slow my creative work down; it sharpened it.

Education:

What I’m Building Next

Right now, I’m pursuing my Master of Arts in New Media Journalism at Full Sail University, focusing on digital storytelling, pop culture reporting, and modern media platforms. The program is helping me refine my voice, expand my reach, and better understand how journalism and entertainment intersect in today’s media landscape.

My long-term ambition is to become a talk show host and on-camera personality, bringing audiences into conversations around food, music, film, and culture — especially at the local level, where the best stories often start.

Personal Details:

Life Outside the Lens

I was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in Palm Bay, Florida, where I somehow learned to appreciate both cold-weather cities and beachside sunsets. When I’m not teaching or creating content, I’m usually at a concert, checking out a new spot to eat, or keeping up with whatever movie or trend the internet refuses to stop talking about. I’m a father, actor, comedian, teacher, musician, and foodie.

CouchPilgrim was created as a space to take pop culture off the couch and into the real world. It’s where I explore food festivals, local concerts, movie releases, and the entertainment trends shaping right now — all through a conversational, accessible lens.

The goal isn’t just to review or recap, but to experience. I want readers to feel like they’re tagging along — whether that’s discovering a new restaurant, catching a rising artist live, or deciding what movie is actually worth the ticket price.

If it involves storytelling, culture, or a good recommendation, chances are I’m already interested — and probably writing about it.
