Live music and alternative nightlife continue to collide in positive ways at Kraken Kava, where the venue’s weekly Tuesday open mic has become a recurring gathering space for performers and attendees throughout Brevard County.

Known primarily as a kava bar, Kraken Kava has increasingly expanded into live entertainment, joining a growing number of Florida kava venues using music events to attract audiences seeking alternatives to traditional nightlife settings. According to Kraken Kava, the venue regularly hosts themed events, live performances, and community gatherings throughout the week.

Each Tuesday, musicians, vocalists, rappers, and poets rotate through the venue’s open mic format, creating an environment that blends performance with social interaction. The event is hosted by DJ and producer DJ Canadiator, aka LouE, who organizes the lineup and helps coordinate the flow of performances throughout the night.

“The goal is to get a bunch of Artists, producers, and everyone in the business to come here and exchange ideas, work together on some project, and even test them. ”

The open mic reflects a broader trend throughout Florida, where smaller venues and lounges have become accessible performance spaces for emerging artists. Unlike traditional concert venues, open mic settings allow performers to test material and develop stage experience in front of smaller crowds.

Throughout the evening, artists performed while attendees moved between seating areas, pool tables, and the performance space itself. The format created a rotating atmosphere where experienced musicians and first-time performers shared the same stage.

According to Visit Florida, live entertainment and cultural events continue playing a major role in Florida’s local tourism and nightlife industries, particularly in community-centered venues.

As the night progressed, Kraken Kava’s Tuesday open mic demonstrated how smaller venues in Palm Bay are continuing to contribute to the region’s growing independent music and arts scene.
