Grassroots venues like Nocturne Teas continue to help nurture the development of local artists in Brevard County. Today, we follow up on the HaveUSeenBiggy profile, examining how Nocturne Teas’ weekly open mic provides a more direct look at the emerging artists who use the space to develop their craft, build confidence, and connect with Brevard County’s growing music community.
Every Thursday evening, Nocturne Teas in Palm Bay transforms from a kava lounge into a performance space where musicians, singers, rappers, and songwriters share the same stage. While audiences experience the event as a night of live entertainment, artists interviewed during a recent open mic described the venue as an important resource for those trying to establish themselves within the local music scene.

For many independent artists, opportunities to perform regularly can be limited. Open mic events provide a lower-pressure environment where performers can gain experience, test new material, and receive immediate feedback from audiences.
Among those performing during the event was HaveUSeenBiggy, an independent artist previously featured for his growing catalog of music and consistent presence within the Brevard County scene. When asked about the importance of spaces like Nocturne for artists who are just getting started, HaveUSeenBiggy said:
” I use performing as more of a focus group… It’s not the same as just showing someone your music; you can get real feedback on the stage.”
He also discussed how performing at the venue has contributed to his growth as an artist.
“Performing here has helped me grow because I can test the vibe of my songs.”

The sentiment was echoed by fellow performer TTK Reek, who pointed to the role that local venues play in helping artists gain visibility and experience.
“Places like Nocturne specifically are doing it the best they can…”
When discussing his own development as a performer, TTK Reek added:
“Yes! One hundred percent, performing here has made me see my true potential as an artist.”
Another artist, Shmoney, highlighted the opportunity for premiering new songs and collaboration that comes from sharing a stage with other local performers.

“You get fans that support you and friends that push you to go up on stage.”
Shmoney also described the ways performing at Nocturne has helped strengthen his confidence and stage presence.
“Nocturne Teas has helped me build my confidence; I’ve never performed on stage before this.”
Beyond the performances themselves, the event functions as a gathering place for artists and music enthusiasts to exchange ideas, discuss upcoming projects, and build relationships within the local creative community. Throughout the evening, performers moved between audience seats and the stage, creating an environment that blurred the line between showcase and free-form art.
As Brevard County’s independent music scene continues to evolve, venues like Nocturne Teas provide a consistent platform for emerging artists to gain experience in front of live audiences. While each performer brings a different style and perspective, the artists interviewed shared a common theme: opportunities to grow often begin in smaller spaces before reaching larger stages.
For artists such as HaveUSeenBiggy, TTK Reek, and Shmoney, Nocturne Teas serves as more than a weekly performance venue. It remains one of the few places where developing musicians can regularly connect with audiences, fellow artists, and the broader local music community.
