Laughter has become an increasingly popular activity in Brevard County, Florida, and an even more familiar sound in Cocoa Village. Every Thursday night,t comedians, performers, and audiences gather at Blind Lion Jazz, Blues, and Comedy Club for weekly stand-up showcases hosted by Eugene Singleton.
Located in the center of Cocoa Village’s nightlife district, the venue has steadily become one of the more recognizable spaces for live comedy in Brevard County. While the area has long been associated with live music, bars, and restaurants, weekly comedy events have increasingly become part of the district’s nighttime identity.

According to The Blind Lion Comedy Showcase, the venue hosts comedy performances every Thursday beginning at 7:30 p.m., with comedians from across Florida and the Southeast rotating through the lineup. The venue itself also operates as a jazz, blues, and live entertainment club throughout the week.
Inside the dimly lit upstairs venue, performers cycle through short stand-up sets while audiences fill tables between drinks and conversations. The atmosphere often shifts quickly between local comics testing new material and more experienced performers refining longer routines.
“We’re putting these shows on, these great shows,” Singleton said during the event. “But one thing I want to see is new comedians pop up.”

The weekly showcases reflect a larger expansion of entertainment options throughout Cocoa Village, where venues increasingly mix live music, comedy, and nightlife programming to attract audiences throughout the week. Nearby businesses like REC 225, Hogan’s Irish Pub, and Rebellion Wine Bar contribute to the area’s broader nightlife traffic, helping establish the district as one of Brevard County’s more active evening destinations.
Additional comedy programming has also expanded beyond Thursday showcases. According to the WFIT Community Calendar, open mic comedy podcasts and smaller stand-up events have continued appearing throughout the area in recent years.
As audiences continued filing into the venue throughout the night, the weekly showcases demonstrated how Brevard County’s comedy scene is gradually carving out its own space alongside the region’s more established live music culture.
